“Aurora justly prides herself on her fire Department, and well she may, for no other city in this State has so efficient a Volunteer Department. It is true we have fewer fires here than any city of this size, and yet when there is one, day or night, our boys get to it in an incredible short time and do splendid work in saving property. The men are all careful and attentive and no property is ever destroyed through their carelessness. When the annual review takes place it is like a public holiday in town, and everybody wants to see the sight and by their presence show their appreciation.”
